Mgwirizano Irrigation Scheme
Mgwirizano Irrigation Scheme was also implemented by Mai Aisha Trust by Peace Giving International. The scheme is in Mangochi District in Ntundu village GHV Ntundu T/A Bwananyambi. The scheme has 20 farmers (13 males & 7 females) and they use motorized irrigation system now. Crops as tomatoes, vegetables & maize are grown.
Problems Faced Before the Implementation of Scheme
- They were harvesting low yield hence low income.
- They were using earth canals which promotes soil erosion.
How Things Have Changed With the Support of Peace Giving International
- Large land is used to cultivate crops hence high yield and income enhancement.
- The use of motorized irrigation system minimizes the cause of soil erosion.
