Namaning’a Irrigation Schemes
Namaning’a irrigation scheme was implemented by Mai Aisha Trust by Peace Giving International. The Scheme is in Mangochi district in Nanmaning’a village GVH Sinyala T/A Bwananyambi. The scheme has 20 farmers (8males & 12 females). They use motorized irrigation system now and the crops that are grown are Maize, Vegetables & Tomatoes.
Problems Faced Before the Implementation of the Scheme
- They were using earth canal which promotes soil erosion.
- Farmers were using buckets to carry water for irrigating crops so the failed to cultivate large piece of land.
How Things Have Changed With Support of Peace Giving International.
- Farmers are able to cultivate large piece of land since now they use motorized irrigation system.
- They use of motorized irrigation system has reduced soil erosion.
