About This Activity
With support from local and international partners, Mai Aisha Trust works to improve healthcare delivery through static and mobile clinics in rural and urban areas across Mangochi and Blantyre districts. In partnership with NGOs, the Trust operates healthcare facilities including static and mobile clinics in Somba, Katuli, Makanjira, and Katema in Mangochi, as well as Bangwe and Ndirande in Blantyre.
Makanjira and Katema Mobile Clinics
These mobile clinics serve remote communities in Mangochi district, bringing essential healthcare services to areas with limited access to medical facilities.
Hajira Clinic and Maternity (Bangwe)
Located in Bangwe, Hajira provides comprehensive maternal health services including:
- Antenatal care
- Postnatal services
- Safe delivery services
- Referrals to specialized hospitals
Somba Clinic and Maternity (Mangochi)
Somba operates both as a general clinic and maternity facility, serving patients from Mangochi and neighboring districts including Machinga. The Somba Maternity was officially opened on September 20, 2018.
Services Provided:
- Antenatal care
- Labor and delivery services
- Postnatal care
- General medical consultations
Impact:
These facilities have significantly reduced maternal complications by eliminating the need for expectant mothers to travel long distances for safe deliveries. All clinics and maternity facilities are staffed with qualified nurses who provide professional healthcare services to their communities.
