Project Overview

Detailed description of our project goals and methodology

With support from the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), Mai Aisha Trust constructed the Nangapoche Community Day Secondary School (CDSS), which was officially opened on January 4, 2022. The school features classroom blocks for Forms 1 through 4, an administration block, and two science laboratories. Now operating under government oversight, the school began with its first intake of 74 Form 1 students (38 girls and 36 boys), who were selected by the Ministry of Education. Mai Aisha Trust further supported the school by supplying desks, stationery, books, and ensuring an electricity connection.

Challenges We Addressed

The problems our community faced before intervention

  • There was no secondary school in the area, forcing students to travel long distances.
  • The long distances resulted in a high number of school dropouts.

Our Solutions & Approach

Strategic interventions and methodologies implemented

  • A new Community Day Secondary School was constructed locally.
  • The school was fully equipped with classrooms, laboratories, and an administration block.

Results & Impact

Measurable outcomes and lasting community benefits

  • The school dropout rate has been reduced as students no longer face long commutes.
  • The new school provides educational opportunities for students from surrounding villages.
  • Employment has been created for seven qualified teachers.
