Project Overview

Detailed description of our project goals and methodology

In 2019, through a financial commitment from Drop of Compassion (DoC), Mai Aisha Trust constructed Mpenjere Primary School in Mikundi village, Traditional Authority Mbwananyambi, Mangochi District. The project included the construction of two modern classrooms and a headteacher’s office, replacing the unsafe temporary shelters previously used by students and staff. This development has created a safe and motivating environment for both pupils and teachers, contributing to an improved quality of education for the community.

Challenges We Addressed

The problems our community faced before intervention

  • School children had to walk a total distance of 18km to and from the nearest primary school, leading to high dropout rates and illiteracy.
  • Pupils were learning in an unsafe temporary shelter with only two classrooms.
  • Many students were forced to learn under trees due to insufficient space.
  • The headteacher had no office and had to work under a tree.

Our Solutions & Approach

Strategic interventions and methodologies implemented

  • Constructed a new school block with two modern and safe classrooms.
  • Built a dedicated office for the headteacher.
