Mai Aisha Trust Constructs Two Irrigation Schemes in Mangochi and Blantyre

In 2017, Mai Aisha Trust constructed two irrigation schemes in Mangochi and Blantyre with funding from Drop of Compassion (DoC), a UK-based charity.

The irrigation schemes are Titukulane and M’bawa respectively. M’bawa has 15 direct and over 200 indirect beneficiaries, while Titukulane has 18 direct and over 250 indirect beneficiaries.

M’bawa Irrigation Scheme

M’bawa irrigation scheme covers one hectare and comprises 15 farmers (5 women and 10 men). Currently, vegetables are being grown following completion of pipeline installations.

Titukulane Irrigation Scheme

Titukulane covers one hectare and comprises 18 farmers (11 women and 7 men). Farmers have already begun growing crops including maize, vegetables, and sweet potatoes.
