2023 Qurban: Mai Aisha Trust Distributed Meat to Over 50,000 People

Every year during the lunar month of Dhul Hijjah, Muslims around the world slaughter animals (cows, goats, sheep, or camels) to commemorate Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) willingness to sacrifice his son Ismail (AS) for the sake of God. After the slaughter, the meat is distributed to family and friends.

This year, from June 29 to July 1, 2023, Mai Aisha Trust, with support from various donors including One Ummah Charitable Organisation, Drop Of Compassion, World Care Foundation, Akhrah Team, Crisis Aid, Serving the Creation, Walayat, and Hasene, slaughtered 3,192 goats and 25 cows. The meat was distributed to 9,576 families, benefiting over 57,426 people across Chikwawa, Nsanje, Salima, Zomba, Mangochi, and Balaka districts.

Objectives for this Meat Distribution

The primary objectives of this distribution were:

  • To assist underprivileged people who find it difficult to afford meat
  • To express love to both Muslims and non-Muslims, as Muslims believe in giving and sharing with the community

This annual distribution continues to be a vital part of our commitment to food security and community support in Malawi.
