Project Overview

Detailed description of our project goals and methodology

The Mpenga Irrigation Scheme is located in Mpira Village, Traditional Authority Likoswe, in the Chiradzulu district. This area has historically been affected by recurring hunger despite having the necessary resources for successful agriculture. In response, Mai Aisha Trust funded the project with approximately K3.5 million, and work commenced in October 2010. The introduction of the scheme was met with hope by the community as a means to eliminate hunger. This project enabled farmers to produce enough food for their families and a surplus to sell, thereby improving their overall livelihood.
