Mai Aisha Trust Opens Primary School in Mangochi

With financial commitment from brother Ashraf Patel through DOC, Mai Aisha Trust constructed primary school blocks in Mikundi village, T/A Mbwananyambi, Mangochi District. The school is known as Mpenjere Primary School. The constructed structures include two classrooms and one headteacher’s office.

Problems before donor intervention:

  • School children had to walk 9 kilometers to and from the nearest primary school
  • This contributed to high dropout rates and promoted illiteracy

Challenges after school establishment:

  1. Pupils learned in temporary, unsafe shelters
  2. The temporary shelter had only two classrooms, insufficient for the large number of pupils, forcing some to learn under trees
  3. No headteacher office, requiring the headteacher to work under a tree

How the school block project has improved conditions:

  1. Pupils now learn in modern, safe classrooms
  2. The headteacher has a modern, safe office
  3. The safe environment motivates both pupils and teachers, leading to improved education quality
